Our Principal delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar on Quia Timet Injunctions. The same is a specialised, unique form of injunction that is applied-for when the Court's jurisdiction is at serious risk of being stultified.

Our Principal delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar titled "The Drafting of Applications and Affidavits". The talk discussed, inter alia, core tenets and practical principles that must be utilised and applied before one can produce a professional draft.


WRITTEN SUBMISSIONS: THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT
(07 FEBRUARY 2023)
Our Principal delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar titled "Written Submissions: The Long and Short of it". The talk discussed numerous aspects of written submissions and the common pitfalls practitioners fall headlong into. Approximately 50 members of the Malaysian Bar attended this talk, which was held at the Bar Council's new premises.


CONTENTIOUS PROBATE PROCEEDINGS
(O. 72 OF THE RULES OF COURT 2012)
(16 MAY 2023)
Our Principal delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar on the niche subject of Contentious Probate Proceedings (O. 72 of the Rules of Court 2012).
The talk discussed numerous aspects of Contentious Probate Proceedings and adopted a practical approach to the subject matter. Approximately 80 members of the Malaysian Bar attended this talk, which was held at the Bar Council's premises.

Our Principal delivered a talk to the Selangor Bar on the niche subject of Contentious Probate Proceedings (O. 72 of the Rules of Court 2012).

The talk discussed numerous aspects of Contentious Probate Proceedings and adopted a practical approach to the subject matter. Approximately 240 members of the Selangor Bar were in attendance.

(PRACTICAL) TRIAL IN A CIVIL CONTEXT

Gavin delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar on the various aspects of trial in the context of civil proceedings.

The talk was attended by approximately 80 members of the Bar and discussed various aspects of the trial process, from inception till conclusion.

Gavin delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar on the niche processes and procedures that are involved in Contentious Probate Proceedings.
​
The talk focused on various aspects of O. 72 of the Rules of Court 2012, together with a discussion as to various aspects of contentious probate proceedings and best-practices when approaching trial.
​​​
The talk was attended by approximately 60 members of the Bar.


CAVEAT EMPTOR: DISSECTING THE FEDERAL COURT JUDGMENT OF SETIAKON V MAK YANG TAI ON DEFEASIBILITY (LAND LAW)
(10 SEPTEMBER 2024)
Gavin delivered a talk to the Malaysian Bar on the findings of the Federal Court in the decision of Setiakon v Mak Yan Tai.

The talk delved into the historical development of the law and chronicled the various Federal Court decisions that culminated in Setiakon v Mak Yan Tai. Best practices were also discussed, which conveyancers may consider incorporating into their practice.

The talk was attended by approximately 80 members of the Bar.

APPELLATE PROCEDURE: ADJECTIVAL LAW AND A BRIEF DISCUSSION ON ADVOCACY
(31 JULY 2025)
Gavin will deliver a talk to the Malaysian Bar on the adjectival aspects of appealing from the Sessions Court to the High Court and the High Court to the Court of Appeal.

Appeals can be unforgiving and this talk is targeted at practitioners who would like to learn the best practices.
